Stilton PDO

The King of Cheeses

Blue Stilton is one of Britain’s most celebrated cheeses, protected by PDO status to safeguard its provenance, quality and traditional production methods.

Just as Champagne can only be produced in its protected region of France, Blue Stilton can only be made in Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire according to strict production standards.

Today, only four dairies are licensed to make Blue Stilton: Clawson Farms, Colston Bassett Dairy, Cropwell Bishop Creamery and Hartington Creamery. Together, they continue the traditions and craftsmanship behind the King of Cheeses, producing Stilton with its distinctive blue veining, rich flavour and unmistakable character.
